relief to the suffering. . .
“There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.”

Our mission:
The Foundation for Children in Need is a non-profit volunteer program dedicated to relieving the suffering and improving conditions for Haitian communities in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
In doing this, we focus on several objectives:
We give youth, adults and families the opportunities to participate in Humanitarian Volunteer Work
We offer volunteer mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We focus on helping the Haitian community in both countries. The Haitians are among the poorest people in the world.
Bringing love and comfort to orphans through volunteer services
We believe that every child needs and deserves to be loved. Studies have shown that love is just as important to survival as is water to the body. Lack of love in a child’s life causes many physical and mental problems. We are able to give these neglected children the attention they so desperately need by taking groups of volunteers into the orphanages to hold and play with the children.
Gathering and distributing donations to orphanages in need, while ensuring they are distributed honestly
We assist various orphanages with food, water and other needed supplies. One of the challenges that we (and most organizations) face is making sure the donations actually make it to the children. We have learned that without a proper system in place this rarely happens in Haiti. This is why we have created HOM(e) - Haitian Orphanage Management Exemplified, a program to ensure transparency and accountability between the orphanage and any participating welfare organizations.
Educating orphanage staff
Even with sufficient funding and supplies, the orphans’ quality of living remains poor if the orphanage staff is not adequately trained in basic medical care, hygiene practices, child development, etc. We give the staff access to this information through our training programs.
Organized: The Foundation for Children in Need was organized as a non-profit in Utah in 2001.

My Story - Rebecca Maesato R.N.
FFCIN Founder
Rebecca Maesato R.N.
This was the beginning of a real adventure! For the next 2 1/2 years we operated a guest home for U.S. volunteers to work in local orphanages. While living in Haiti we met a group of orphaned teen boys. I spent several years tracking down their birth records so that I could adopt them. I went from having a family of 3 girls to one of 11 children. The addition of eight teenage Haitian boys has brought many challenges, but even more joyous adventures. During our time in Haiti we were able to bless the lives of not only my new children, but countless children living in the pitiful orphanages of the city. Food and supplies were delivered, but even more importantly, countless hours of affection were given by ourselves and our volunteers. I have since established my new family in the United States where these once "street kids" are productive members of society. All of my children are now on their own and pursuing their dreams and I find myself returning to the work that I love. That is, improving the lives of the poor and neglected children of the world and giving others the opportunity of experiencing the joys of this great work.
I was first introduced to humanitarian work in 2001. I got involved when my daughters and I went with a volunteer organization to Cuenca, Ecuador for 4 months. Working with the children of Ecuador opened our eyes to the conditions outside the U.S. and converted us to the wonderful world of humanitarian service! After returning home we formed our own non-profit organization and began work in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
